Up until the 1960’s, most homeowners in the northern United States relied on coal to heat their homes in the winter months. Many businesses, both small and large also used this method for warmth. Every city and town was pock-marked with commercial and residential coal dealers. Some changed hands as fast as the changing seasons, others remained owned by the same families for decades. Such is the case with our newest craftsman structure kit.

Baker Coal Company is a five-building, limited edition, craftsman structure kit based on several prototype buildings.

The coal shed is based on a prototype that is still standing in Rutland, Vermont. The Hugh Duffy Coal Company has been in business since the 1800's. The Baker Coal Company Office, also includes a trackside dock for loading and unloading of lime, bagged coal, feed, hay and seed.

Baker's Junction station is based closely on the station at Vergennes, Vermont. This building, constructed in the late 1800's, is abandoned, but still standing, and is a testimony to true character and craftsmanship that was built in each station in those days. This station will look great in any small to medium sized model railroad town!

The Railroad Express Agency building is based on a structure that existed until the late 1970's in my hometown. The REA was the railroad's equivalent to UPS, and handled all sorts of large and small parcels in LCL shipments.

Baker Coal Company includes a thorough instruction book, and templates. Materials include Hydrocal plaster, laser-cut clapboard siding, scale stripwood, Tichy windows and doors, paper, chipboard, and over 50 white metal detail castings.

Only 300 kits will be made. Order yours now only $280.00 + $18.00 S/H
